Official Name The name od the State is Bolivia, in honor of the Libertador Simón Bolivar. Plurinational State of Bolivia Capital and Seat of Government - Sucre is the Capital of Bolivia. The “General Assembly of Deputies of the Alto Perú Provinces” , of August 6th 1825, was carried out at the "Casa de la Libertad " in the city of Sucre in the Department of Chuquisaca through which Bolivia was declared independent, adopting the name “Republic of Bolivar” a name that was changed afterwards. Sucre also currently houses the majority of republican history of the State, including among others: The Casa the la Libertad or Freedom House the place where Bolivia’s independence was gestated; - La Paz is the Seat of Government. The city of La Paz houses the Executive, Legislative and Electoral branches. In this city many national institutions, historical buildings and museums can be found it has also been witness of different accounts of historical national relevance. |
